Dual-boiler maintenance needs more care than a simple thermoblock machine: coffee-oil cleaning, water filtration, steam hygiene and the dedicated boiler-drain descale procedure should stay separate.

Cleaning cycle
Run the detergent cleaning cycle with the Sage cleaning disc and tablet.
Water filter
Replace the correct cartridge for the machine batch.
Descaling
Use the dedicated dESC procedure only; the boilers must be cooled and drained in the specified sequence.

Coffee-oil cleaning
Run the Dual Boiler CLEAN ME cycle.
This cleans coffee oils from the group system and is separate from boiler descaling.
Fit the correct basket and cleaning disc
Use the Sage cleaning disc or insert supplied for your machine.
Add one suitable cleaning tablet
Place the tablet in the cleaning disc or basket exactly as the machine procedure shows.
Start the cleaning programme
Use the machine prompt, touchscreen menu or model-specific button sequence.
Let the full cycle finish
Do not interrupt the pressure and rinse stages once the programme is running.
Rinse the brew parts
Remove and rinse the portafilter, basket and cleaning disc before making coffee again.
Water care
Check the batch before choosing a replacement filter.
Older BES920 production runs can use a different filter arrangement; current ClaroSwiss compatibility begins at the Sage batch cut-off.

Older Dual Boiler and Oracle production runs can use a different filter arrangement, so check the batch/holder before ordering.
Soak the replacement
Prepare the current ClaroSwiss cartridge using the filter instructions before fitting it.
Fit it securely
Install the prepared cartridge into the holder and lock the holder into the water tank.
Track the replacement
Use the machine reminder or installation date so the next change is not missed.
Dual-boiler scale care
Treat the boiler-drain descale as a model-specific service procedure.
The Dual Boiler descale process requires the machine to cool, both boilers to be drained through the descale access valves, a timed solution stage, and repeated fresh-water flushing. Do not substitute a generic espresso-machine descale sequence.
Cool the machine fully
Switch off and allow the machine to cool before opening the descale access area.
Use dESC mode
Enter the model-specific descale mode rather than manually pumping solution through the group.
Drain both boilers in the specified order
Follow Sage’s right/left valve procedure and use a cloth and empty drip tray to manage hot residual water safely.
Run the solution soak
Use the programme’s timed descaling stage with the correct solution volume.
Repeat the fresh-water flush
Rinse, refill and complete all boiler-flush stages before returning the machine to use.
Milk hygiene
Keep the steam tip clear after every milk session.
Milk residue should never be allowed to dry into the steam-tip holes.
Purge before milk
Run a short purge before texturing milk.
Wipe immediately
Wipe the wand with a clean damp cloth while milk residue is still soft.
Allow the purge
Where the machine has automatic purging, return the wand to its normal position and let the purge finish.
Clear the tip when needed
Use the supplied cleaning tool or the exact Sage cleaning method if the steam holes become restricted.
