Siemens EQ maintenance guides.
Siemens uses the same broad care jobs across the EQ range, but the controls and maintenance systems differ. EQ900 plus uses automatic cleaning and descaling cartridges; most other EQ machines use prompted tablet-led cleaning, descaling and Calc’nClean.
How Siemens maintenance works
Five jobs sit behind most EQ maintenance prompts.
Keeping them separate makes the machine easier to understand and prevents a cleaning tablet, descaler, filter or brew-unit rinse being used for the wrong task.

Combined cleaning and descaling on supported EQ models when both jobs are due.
02Coffee-system cleaning
Prompted tablet-led cleaning to remove coffee oils and residue.
03Descaling
Separate mineral-scale removal through the machine’s service programme.
04INTENZA filtration
Water-filter setup, hardness configuration and replacement.
05Brewing unit
Remove and rinse with warm water; keep detergent away from the brew unit itself.

The EQ900 plus is the exception in the Siemens range: it adds automatic cleaning and descaling using dedicated cartridges, so its maintenance routine is not the same as a standard EQ900.

The brewing unit is removable — and that changes the routine.
Current Siemens guidance for machines such as EQ700 is to remove the brewing unit periodically and clean it with warm water and a gentle brush. Do not use detergent, soap, vinegar or acid on the brew unit itself.

Run it when prompted rather than inventing a calendar interval.
Keep the water-hardness setting and filter status accurate.
Important exception
EQ900 plus should not be treated like a standard EQ900.
The EQ900 plus adds Siemens’ autoCalc’nClean system using dedicated cleaning and descaling cartridges. That means the normal tablet-led Calc’nClean instructions are not the right starting point for this model.
