Group & steam hygiene
Flush the group, rinse the basket and purge/wipe the steam wand.
Gaggia Classic E24
The brass-boiler Classic E24 keeps the traditional three-way-solenoid layout of the Gaggia Classic family, making group-head cleaning, detergent backflushing, steam-wand hygiene and scale control the core maintenance jobs.

Maintenance schedule
Use the machine’s own prompt sooner whenever it asks for maintenance. Water hardness and usage can also change the practical timing.
Keep this maintenance schedule, reminders, history and available guides with the machine instead of remembering the next job yourself.
Flush the group, rinse the basket and purge/wipe the steam wand.
Use a blind basket only where the model supports backflushing.
Use espresso cleaner through the supported backflush routine, followed by a thorough water-only rinse.
Brush the gasket/shower area and degrease suitable removable metal coffee-contact parts.
Use the model-specific descale method and adjust practical timing to local water hardness.
Your machine is already selected. Add local water hardness and typical use without choosing the manufacturer or model again.
After every session
A few seconds of flushing and wiping after use reduces how often the machine needs aggressive cleaning later.
Run a short water flush after removing the portafilter so loose coffee particles do not bake onto the shower screen and group seal.
Knock out the puck, rinse away grounds and wipe the basket dry rather than leaving coffee residue sitting in the metalwork.
Purge condensate before steaming, then wipe and purge again straight after milk use while residue is still easy to remove.
Keep standing water, spent coffee and stale reservoir water out of the daily workflow.
Coffee-oil cleaning
Backflushing is for coffee oils and residue behind the group head. It is not descaling and the cleaner does not belong in the water tank.
Use the exact machine manual or supplied blind basket/backflush disc as the compatibility check before starting.
Install it in the portafilter and add the correct amount of espresso-machine cleaning product for a detergent cycle.
Engage the brew pump briefly, stop, allow pressure to release through the three-way valve, then repeat as specified for the machine.
Rinse away cleaner before completing the water-only stage.
Backflush again without detergent until the discharged water is clear and no cleaning residue remains.
Run fresh water through the group and discard the first rinse before returning to normal coffee preparation.
Periodic deep clean
A detergent cycle does not physically remove every trapped coffee particle around the gasket, shower screen, baskets and portafilter.
Use a group-head brush to remove grounds from the gasket and accessible shower-screen area.
Baskets and removable metal portafilter components can be degreased with an espresso cleaner when their material and finish permit it.
Do not immerse wooden handles, painted parts, gauges, electronics or other non-coffee-contact components.
Persistent leaks around the portafilter or uneven flow can indicate wear or a blocked screen rather than a need for repeated detergent cycles.
Milk hygiene
Milk residue becomes far harder to remove once it dries inside or around the steam tip.
Release condensation before placing the wand in milk.
Use a clean damp cloth while the milk film is still soft.
A short purge helps clear milk from the steam tip holes.
If holes remain restricted, remove the tip according to the machine instructions and clean it separately rather than probing aggressively.
Descaling
The exact descale sequence depends on machine generation and boiler design. Use local water hardness to judge how aggressively the published interval needs to be managed.
Boiler materials and control layouts vary, especially across long-running model families.
Descaling treats the water path, not the coffee-oil side of the portafilter and group.
Use the dose and water volume specified for the model and never substitute backflush cleaner.
Follow the published sequence through the brew group and/or steam or hot-water path as instructed.
Complete every rinse stage before brewing or steaming again.
Prosumer espresso machines can differ by generation, boiler material, pump and water-feed configuration. Check the exact model and serial generation before any invasive maintenance.
Relevant Ventori care
Backflush cleaner removes coffee oils from the group system; descaler removes mineral scale from the water path. They are separate products for separate jobs.
