Coffee residue care

Coffee machine cleaning

“Cleaning the coffee machine” can mean several different jobs. The useful starting point is to identify where the residue is: removable brew parts, an espresso group head, a bean-to-cup coffee path or the milk system.

WHAT THIS JOB IS FORCleaning removes coffee oils, grounds and milk residue. Descaling removes mineral deposits from the water system. They are different maintenance jobs and usually use different products.

Choose the cleaning route

Two cleaning jobs. Two different products.

When it comes up

When should you think about cleaning?

01

The machine shows a cleaning or CLEAN ME prompt.

02

Coffee oils or residue are visible on removable brew parts.

03

The manufacturer specifies a periodic tablet-cleaning or backflush routine.

The safe general approach

The machine procedure still wins.

Use this as orientation. The exact controls, product placement and programme sequence should come from your model-specific guide.

01

Start with the exact machine guide rather than a generic tablet-cleaning routine.

02

Clean user-removable parts at the frequency the manufacturer recommends.

03

Use backflush tablets only where the machine supports a backflush or cleaning-disc cycle.

04

Use bean-to-cup cleaning tablets only via the route specified for that automatic machine.

Important

Never assume one cleaning tablet can be used in every part of the machine. Placement and programme type are machine-specific.

Something not going to plan?

Troubleshoot the symptom, not the guess.

If a warning will not clear or a programme behaves differently from expected, start with the symptom before repeating the maintenance job.
