What the filter does
Incoming-water care before the water reaches the machine.
De'Longhi describes the DLSC002 as filtering and softening water to reduce limescale formation while also reducing chlorine, odours and other contaminants.
The official filter uses ion-exchange resins and activated carbon.
Filtration reduces new scale formation; it does not remove existing deposits.

Prepare & install
Prime the filter before fitting it.
De'Longhi's filter setup differs from Sage and Philips: prepare the cartridge with running water, then submerge it to release trapped air.
Remove the filter from its packaging
Open one new DLSC002-style cartridge and check that the filter and tank connection match your machine.
Set the date indicator
Turn the calendar disc so the next two months are shown. This gives you a simple replacement reminder.
Run water through the filter
Hold the filter under tap water through the opening until water exits from the upper side.
Submerge and release trapped air
Immerse the filter completely and let the air bubbles escape before fitting it.
Fit it into the tank
Push the prepared filter into its housing securely without forcing the connection.
Refill and complete machine setup
Refill with fresh water, reinstall the tank and follow any model-specific filter confirmation or hot-water routine.
After physical installation, use the machine-specific filter setup if your display or control panel asks you to confirm the filter.
Replacement timing
Two months is the normal ceiling.
De'Longhi's current UK DLSC002 product guidance says the cartridge can be used for up to two months. Individual manuals can also set conditions around long periods when the machine is unused.
Use the date dial when you install the new filter.
If the machine requests a filter change first, replace it then.
Some manuals require earlier replacement after extended periods without use.

How often should I replace a De’Longhi DLSC002 water filter?
De’Longhi states that the DLSC002 can be used for up to two months. Some manuals also instruct replacement after prolonged non-use even if the two-month point has not been reached.
Does the DLSC002 filter mean I never need to descale?
No. It helps reduce limescale formation but does not remove scale already inside the machine. Follow your machine’s descale prompt and water-hardness setting.
